Zombie Dreamin’

I had the most vivid dream last night…about zombies of all things. It was like a scene from a movie! In it, I am in a big cafeteria at a school interviewing a group of military men that are practicing defusing bombs. We are joking around and one guy asks if I want to try my hand at deactivating a bomb. I laugh and tell him that I’ll leave that to the pros. I leave the cafeteria to use the bathroom and when I come back mass chaos has broken out and over half of the people in there are either dead or zombies, and part of the military group has been tied to chairs with skin-colored, plastic masks placed over the bottom part of their faces. I see the military guy I was talking to earlier and his eyes are pleading me to get the hell out as fast as I can. I run out of the cafeteria and end up running backwards (which was excruciating) down the highway with zombies following closely…then I wake up in a cold sweat. (Thinking back on the dream, I should have made the bombs go off to kill all the zombies. But, alas, hindsight is 20/20.)

One of my favorite things to do when I remember a dream is to look it up in my dream dictionary. I’m a nerd, I know. I take these with a grain of salt, but more often than not I can find some hint of relevance to my waking life. Our subconscious is an amazing thing. So, what I read from my dream dictionary about zombies is this:

To see or dream that you are a zombie suggests that you are physically and/or emotionally detached from people and situations that are currently surrounding you. You are feeling out of touch. To dream that you are attacked by zombies indicate that you are feeling overwhelmed by forces beyond your control. You are under tremendous stress in your waking life. Alternatively, the dream represents your fears of being helpless and overpowered.

Well, ain’t that sumthin’. Hopefully I’ll have some better dreams tonight!
