Welcome to Winter!

Ahhh, my favorite season has arrived in glorious fashion! Shoveling snow has my arm muscles back in action and the huge amounts of snow we’ve gotten makes me rejoice for cross-country skiing. And the crispness in the air—swoon! I’ve come to the realization that I love to shovel. I was outside for 2 hours last night, just tossing it around. It’s sort of meditative. I could have stayed out all night. I’ve been trying to get out fairly regularly to ski, too. The Piedmont trails are now within a 5-minute walk of my house and I can’t think of a better way to spend my free time. I want to ski all the time—ski fever is in full swing. Here are some tidbits of recent life on the hill…

Big old ice candle!

Frost crawling on the windshield on a recent morning.

The sun rising last week.

Digging my trench.

The birds nest snuggled between snowbanks.
