This weekend I successfully ran 20 miles on the Superior Hiking Trail (albeit one twisted ankle) in preparation for my upcoming 50k trail race! Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous, sunny day. The temperature was just right (maybe around 60 degrees, give or take a few) and the leaves were making their way to full force. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my day. I love the feeling a good trail run gives me. The narrowness of the trail and all its obstacles make me feel like a wild animal racing through the woods. I’m constantly jumping mud pits, dodging branches and roots, and rock-hopping over streams. There is no better way to run, in my mind. Saturday was a day that I am grateful for. I was free.
