I finally had a chance to get into the studio last night. I was a little apprehensive because I hadn’t thrown anything since the fall AND I was throwing with terra cotta, for the first time. I wedged three lumps of clay, each about 4 to 5 pounds. The first two pots I threw were complete junk. I scrapped the pots, let them dry out a bit and re-wedged them, ready for round two. I threw the third pot more wet than usual and it popped right up! The next two pots also went up fairly smoothly. After 3.5 hours in the studio, I was happy with how my pots had turned out. They are the three largest pieces that I have ever thrown! Now they sit under plastic and I will trim them on Sunday or Monday. Then, the fun starts again as I figure out what kind of designs I will create on their surfaces. I have a few designs in mind, I think I’ll let them simmer over the next couple of days. Enjoy your weekend!
